Under bright blue skies and warm sunshine the children and staff of Cradles to Crayons Child Care Center marched the grounds of Crittenton Services, Inc. on Friday, May 15 to collect money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Each spring Michelle Crupe, daycare site coordinator, organizes the walk to raise money for area children who have been diagnosed with the disease. Crupe’s idea for the march stems from the personal loss of a friend.  The march begins at the residential building and continues on through the administration office. Crupe said everyone is always happy to see the youngsters.

“They are always really excited to see the kids,” she said. “They say, ‘Awe, how cute.’”
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. During Friday’s march, Crupe said that between $200-250 was raised. Another added bonus was the weather.

“We had excellent, excellent weather,” Crupe said.  “I couldn’t ask for a better day .”

The next event of this kind will take place this fall as Cradles to Crayons participates in the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon.
