Crittenton Services, Inc. has been reaccredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). In making this announcement, COA recognized Crittenton's commitment to maintaining the highest level of standards and quality improvement exemplifying the high performance standards and commitment to its constituents to deliver the highest quality services. Crittenton Services, Inc. is one of only 15 outstanding providers in West Virginia to receive COA accreditation.

In a statement released by the accrediting organization, COA congratulated the staff and management of Crittenton Services, Inc. "for their hard work and wonderful achievement and is proud to have it as part of COA's Community of Excellence." Because COA reviews and reaccredits the entire organization, not just specific programs, Crittenton can assure the credibility, integrity and achievement of the entire organization.

COA reaccreditation is an objective and reliable verification that provides confidence and support to an organization's service recipients, board members, staff and community partners. The COA reaccreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of both an organization's administrative operations and its service delivery practices. All are "measured" against national standards of best practice. These standards emphasize services that are accessible, appropriate, culturally responsive, evidence based, and outcomes-oriented, In addition, they confirm that the services are provided by a skilled and supported workforce and that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.

Crittenton's new reaccreditation period began October 31, 2010 and lasts through October 31, 2014. The process included a self-study document sent in advance to COA and a peer review team visiting the agency in May. Crittenton President and CEO Kathy Szafran noted, "It took a commitment of staff from all levels of the organization working hard to complete the necessary tasks. Director of Quality Improvement Mary Stein and Quality Improvement Specialist Jen Spencer led the team and worked closely with staff at COA - gathering facts and evidence and providing input and feedback for all aspects of the process."

Crittenton offers comprehensive behavioral health treatment for children and families, including community-based outpatient counseling through Wellspring Family Services in 18 counties in Northern West Virginia and a residential treatment facility for at-risk adolescent females serving all of West Virginia in its Elm Grove facility. The agency also operates child care facilities in Ohio County and an Intensive Outpatient Program for at-risk adolescent girls in Ohio County.
