Crittenton Services Kicks Off Fall with Soup and Salad Event
A popular annual lunchtime event that offers a variety of soups and salads from professional chefs and volunteers is just around the corner.
Crittenton Services' Junior Board will present its annual Soup and Salad Luncheon on October 12 at the McLure City Center Hotel on Chapline
Street in Wheeling, with free parking in the adjacent garage.
The luncheon offers salads from participating local restaurants and delis, a true taste of the Ohio Valley. There will also be soups, desserts
and a bake sale offering bake goods made by the young women at Crittenton.
The luncheon will be enhanced by a soup cook-off featuring chefs from several of the area's top restaurants, including the Metropolitan Citi
Grill, Oglebay Resort and Conference Center, River City Ale Works, Coleman's Fish Market, The Soup Shack, Ruttenbuck's Grill and Ye Olde Alpha.
Guests may sample each or any of the soups and vote for their favorites.
"We offer everything from traditional tossed, potato, macaroni and pasta salads including our ever-popular Crittenton homemade chicken salad to
the more ethnic black bean, Greek orzo, and Middle Eastern tabouleh. We will have more than twenty varieties of salads from which to choose.
Most people sample a variety," said Carrie McKenzie, Junior Board President.
Doors open at 11:30 with the luncheon beginning at noon. Tickets for the all-you-can eat buffet can be purchased at the door for $12. Carry-out
orders may also be purchased for the ticket price of $12. Reservations can be made by calling (304) 242-7060.
Major sponsors for the event are Riesbeck's Food Markets, Walter and Carol Austin, Mr. Dolph Santorine, First Choice Realtors and Dr. Daniel
Joseph, DDS. Additional sponsors are Belmont Savings Bank, First Choice America Federal Credit Union, and Mrs. Stephanie Bloch, and TaylorMade
Printing Services.
Salads are contributed by volunteers from the Crittenton Services staff, community members and the Junior Board, along with 27 area restaurants
and establishments.
A special Crittenton and Friends Cookbook will also be offered. The book contains 150 unique recipes from area chefs and cooking enthusiasts.
Door prizes and theme basket raffles will also be offered.
Proceeds from the luncheon and all items sold will benefit the Junior Board, which provides monthly activities for the girls of Crittenton
Services' Residential Program, with its facility located in Elm Grove. The gender-specific behavioral health treatment program is committed to
transforming the lives of young women - one child, one girl and one family at a time.
Seating is limited, so the event's organizers encourage attendees with large parties to make reservations in advance. For more information or to
make reservations for the Soup and Salad Luncheon, call Crittenton Services Marketing and Development office at (304) 242-7060 ext. 133.
