Crittenton Services, Inc. Pushes Campaign for "Quality Care"
Crittenton Services, Inc. supports the West Virginia Child Care Association's "Quality Care is in our Own Backyard" campaign,
championing the quality child welfare and behavioral health agencies across the State of West Virginia.
Crittenton Services, Family Connections and St. John's Home for Children are members of the West Virginia Child Care Association,
a statewide organization that champions quality care for children across the state. The association has 11 members statewide.
The WVCCA, in collaboration with the Alliance for Children, Inc., has launched a state-wide campaign titled "Quality Care is in Our
Own Backyard." This campaign showcases child welfare organizations in the state, the quality of their care, and the need to keep
children in the state for treatment and services.
The West Virginia Child Care Association champions what is best for the most vulnerable and difficult children, their families, the
professionals who care for them and the organizations that exist to impact their lives. THE WVCCA believed that children who have
experienced abuse, neglect, emotional and behavioral disabilities, substance abuse and/or delinquency should have every opportunity
to receive care close to home and in their communities where they can stay connected to their support systems.
On any given day in West Virginia, 360 children are in out-of-state behavioral health treatment and child welfare facilities. Many of
these out-of-state facilities are not held to the same high quality standards as West Virginia agencies. The campaign explains the
detrimental emotional, social and economical effects of sending West Virginia children to other states for treatment.
As a part of this campaign, the eleven member agencies are hosting legislative meetings at their facilities. Crittenton Services
hosted the legislative breakfast at its administrative building on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 7:30 a.m. It was an informative
breakfast with full-color brochures, a narrative about the issues contained in the brochure, and a video about the campaign.
Crittenton Services, Inc. is a non-profit agency offering behavioral health services to young girls, children and families across
the state of West Virginia.
