Residents Taking Cooking Classes from Junior League Members

It's called "Kids in the Kitchen," but Crittenton's Residential clients will receive more than just a lesson on cooking as the Junior League of Wheeling will spend an evening with the girls in the program.

The "Kids in the Kitchen" program was developed in 2006 by the Junior League to help combat childhood obesity. It has grown and continues league-wide. The Junior League is a group of women in the community dedicated to serving and volunteering to help the needs of others.

Junior League members will cook with the girls in Crittenton's kitchen on Wednesday, November 16 at 6 p.m., teaching them how to make an appetizer, entree and dessert. But the teaching doesn't stop there. Members are also talking with the girls about nutrition, WIC costs and other information beneficial to their health and their babies' health.

"Nutrition is vital to the education and behavioral health treatment of our girls. The Junior League members assisted our girls in April and it was a big success, with many of our girls still talking about the positive experience. We welcome any opportunity to have our girls spend quality time with caring people in our community," said Tracee Chambers, Vice President of Residential Services.

Crittenton Services, Inc. is a behavioral health agency, offering residential treatment for teenage girls from across West Virginia, outpatient counseling services and child care. For more information on Crittenton Services, Inc. and its four unique programs, go to www.florencecrittenton.net.
