With 115 years of experience in helping children and families in need, Crittenton Services will soon be offering outpatient behavioral health services in Wood, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie and Pleasants counties. Operating under the name Wellspring Family Services, the West Virginia-based nonprofit offers a broad range of services from outpatient counseling to home-based services. Wellspring is now accepting applications from qualified candidates for case managers and therapists.

According to Crittenton Services Vice President of Community Services Beverly Petrelli, Wellspring is "committed to restoring stability to families by offering specialized treatment and counseling. Our professionals are the people that communities and families can trust." One of the unique qualities of Wellspring is its ability to offer clients the flexibility of meeting in a setting other than in an office. "We tailor programs to meet individual needs," Petrelli said. "Sometimes that means we will visit with people in their homes or schools. It always means that we listen to clients and customize treatment plans to suit their challenges."

Petrelli notes that Crittenton has long served the needs of the people of the mid-Ohio Valley through the agency's residential treatment facility for adolescent girls, and that after years of successfully helping a wider range of families in northern West Virginia with outpatient services, the state recently authorized Crittenton to extend those services into five additional counties.

"We're excited about this opportunity to help more people in this region," she said. "From the client's perspective, asking for help through some of life's challenges is not easy for many people. Sometimes, the very thought of going to a therapist's office and working through these difficulties is enough to keep people from reaching out. But now local residents have an alternative. We offer a qualified, caring staff routinely providing outpatient counseling home-based services to families within their natural community settings, whether in the home, the school or other places."

Wellspring helps people with relationship issues, parenting concerns, behavioral problems, children's emotional or school issues, problem solving, decision making skills and communication skills, to name a few. To do this, Wellspring's services include diagnosis and comprehensive psychological assessments, individual and family therapy, supportive counseling, behavior modification programs, parenting education and case management. All Wellspring services are delivered with one goal in mind: strengthening families. As part of the continuum of care provided by Crittenton Services, Inc., a licensed behavioral health services provider, Wellspring Family Services is accredited through the Council on Accreditation, is a member of the West Virginia Child Care Association and the National Crittenton Foundation family.
